Devlog 7: Production 2 sprint 2


Hello everyone!

Glad you're here for a new weekly update about our game Pillow Pals.  This week we were still working on making our attacks better, but we also tried implementing some new features. 


The characters:

Our characters are now modelled, textured and rigged. These are done and functional in our unity project.



The room

We finished almost all our props for the room and tried to make it fit nicely with our game.  There still needs to be a lot more prop placement, but we are getting there.


The parents

The art for the parents is also finished now and already fully implemented in unity, so don't try to make to much noise or be on time in your bed or you will get caught.

Last week I explained the 2 ideas we had and which one we chose to do. Here is you can see what we have done.


Effects

We also worked a lot on the effects of the game. We have effects for when you get hit by a player and are staggered or when you hit a player. Also an indicator to show the direction in which you are throwing and for when you start running.



Programming

In the past week, we spend some time at adding particles and rfx. For example we added feathers when you hit a player. Also there is an outline on the pillows when you can pick it up. Also when you charge the pillow, there is trail following the pillow. When you release the charge, the color gradient is changed

Then we added a rigidbody to some meshes so when you hit it, they will knocked over. We also added some layers in the animator. It isn't finished and working. But it will be soon. After some testing, we noticed some buggs we need to fix. For example the magnet of the throw wasn't great. But that is fixed. Also we added blocking to it with the functionality that you can still be hit. So it is now that in de 90 degrees in front of you, you are blocking. All the other angles are possible hit counters. There is also a fix for the pickup of the pillow so now we can set the angle and position of the pillow on the mesh. 

Then all the players got a different rig, texture and mesh so when we want to change the character in the begin screen, the mesh was broken, but that is fixed now. There is also a sleepiness variables and when it is too high, the scene switched to end scene. Also there is a different movement behavior. We changed from the rigidbody to charachtercontroller.

There is now also the functionality that you can take a nap in the beds when you are near it and when the parent will come. When you are near to the bed, there is an arrow showing above the bed so you will know which button you have to press and that you are close enough.
